Any
person of 18 years of age and above who is of good character and who is
in agreement with the objectives of the Association irrespective of
caste, class, creed, colour, sex or race shall be eligible for
membership.
Members of the Association shall be classified as Associate Members,
Student Members, Full Members and Honorary Life Members.
(i) Associate Members:
Associate Membership shall be open to all persons of good charater
including women. Associate Members shall have all the privileges of
membership except the right to attend business meetings, vote or hold
office.
(ii) Student Members:
Boys and Girls of good character under 18 years of age may be admitted
as Student Members. They shall have privileges similar to those of
Associate Members.
(iii) Honorary Life Members:
Honorary Life Membership may be granted to persons of eminence who have
rendered commendable service to the YMCA or to the YMCA Movement in
general as per a specific resolution of the Board of Directors to that
effect.
(iv) Full Members:
a) Full Membership shall be open to all young men who are Associate
Members and have completed twenty one (21) years of age, who are of good
character, who regard Jesus Christ as their God and Saviour according to
the Holy Scriptures and desire to be His disciples in their doctrine and
in their life and associate their efforts for the extension of His
Kingdom among young men. (Paris Basis)
b) He shall be also be a member of a parish/ congregation of any
Christian denomination.
c) Associate Members generally become eligible for 'Full Membership'
after a period of one year during which period they will have
opportunities to get acquainted with the aims and objective of the YMCA.
d) Only those members shall be received in the Full Membership who apply
in the prescribed form and who, in the opinion of the Board of have
dedicated themselves to the cause of YMCA and who take a pledge to
further its fundamental purposes, at a special Christian Ceremony of
induction which shall be held every year, preferably on YMCA Founder's
Day.
e) When members are admitted to Full Membership not less than one fourth
shall be below the age of 40 years.
f) Full Members only shall have the right to attend business meeting,
vote or hold office.
