Finally, on completion of the training free tool kits for their respective trades /jobs are given, even including a sewing machine for the tailoring students.
Women Empowerment
In both the RDCs Women Empowerment is a subject of major concern and focus. Besides training them in various life supporting and income generating trades and activities, programmes like seminars on Women’s Rights Protection, and running of Women’s Organisations, are being held. The centres also promote Youth Clubs, Mahila Samajams, SHGs, and projects on Poverty Alleviation through Empowerment.

YMCA is continuously engaged in different charity endeavours. Educational assistance to the children of Prisoners, Distribution of Educational Aids (uniforms, notebooks, school bags, umbrellas, etc), Co-operation with Pallium India in conducting awareness programmes for Palliative Care, Conducting of Charity Visits to different charity service institutions, and Conducting of Free Medical Camps, are only some of them.

Boys’ Home
The YMCA Boys’ Home functioning in RDC Vettinad campus is housing about 25 boys of the school going age who come from very poor and destitute background. They are given free food, clothing, educational help and spiritual and moral guidance.
Youth Development
The two organisations YMCA has sponsored and developed for working among the youth are the Hi-Y (the High School Wing of YMCA) and the Uni-Y (the University Wing of YMCA). Both are actively functioning. Regular meetings are being held on Saturdays at YMCA. They organise and conduct Christmas visits to charity homes with gifts for the inmates,   hold Painting competitions for school children, etc.  Similarly, the Uni-Y regularly meet on every Saturday and students from different city colleges participate in their activities, which vary from table topics, public speaking, group discussions, personality development, quiz programmes, etc.  They also hold Uni-Art Competitions, etc.
